freeplan (formerly papercuts)

• freeplan is a free, light-weight alternative to commercial pre-planning software
• written in python with a GTK2 graphical interface
• can run on any OS with a python interpretor and GTK runtime libraries
• sports a diagram area for 2D mapping, a database (MABAS card) section, and a gallery for digital photos
• stores records in python standard database format, making it easy to share your database with others

freeplan is still in beta; in other words, there's still alot of work to be done. I'm in the middle of a complete rewrite at the moment, and Im hoping to put out a testing release soon. Until then, you can get the old release, 'papercuts-0.4', from the download link on the left.

There are a lot of changes planned for the next release. The MABAS area is getting a complete overhaul; you'll be able to build your own custom forms and save multiple forms per address. The drawing area is getting a faster search and selection backend, and I'm adding rudimentary map support and photo link icons.

beta testers wanted
